⚠️ Capacity and Electrical Power Are Not Always the Same Thing
BTU/hr and kW can both describe a rate of energy transfer,
but an HVAC system’s thermal capacity should not automatically
be interpreted as its electrical power consumption. For example,
converting 36,000 BTU/hr gives approximately 10.55 kW of thermal
capacity, but that does not mean a 36,000 BTU/hr air conditioner
consumes 10.55 kW of electricity.
Important:
These conversions provide estimated values based on standard
conversion factors. Equipment ratings, field measurements and
engineering calculations may require additional precision,
conditions or manufacturer-specific information. For equipment
selection, system design or critical HVAC calculations, verify
specifications and consult a qualified HVAC professional.
